DOE Also Recently Announced $8.33 Billion Guarantee for a Georgia Nuclear Plant

You should know that DOE recently announced (2/16/10) loan guarantee of $8.33 billion for Georgia nuclear plant as well as this recently announced (2/22/10) loan guarantee of $1.37 Billion for a Bright Source California solar thermal tower. Since I specialize in the economics of renewable energy, I do not have any off the shelf numbers for the cost ($/MWh) of nuclear electricity but I do for solar tower electricity.

Our planet is certainly in need of more generation in the coming decade estimated at an additional 70-100GW .As conventional generation in fossil and others lose steam, Solar,Wind will fill the gap..lets gear up to this idea..less expensive, cleaner and independent energy generation is in our national interest..I hope that California is listening.
